Nugget Watch is an independent review platform for chicken nuggets. We cover chains, independent takeaways, cafes, and anywhere else that serves them. If a store isn't listed, anyone can add it. Our mission is to bring transparency and statistical rigour to the nation's nugget economy. Quality varies between stores, between visits, sometimes between nuggets in the same box. Until now, no one was systematically keeping track. Nugget Watch fills this critical information gap. We take nuggets seriously so you don't have to.
Nugget Watch is New Zealand's leading and only independent chicken nugget review platform. We collect structured consumer reviews across chains, independent takeaways, cafes, and anywhere else that serves chicken nuggets. Chains are ranked using a statistically defensible confidence-interval methodology. If a store isn't listed, anyone can add it. Think of us as a consumer watchdog with a deliberately narrow mandate.
Chains are ranked by the lower bound of a 95% Wilson score confidence interval. This rewards consensus among many reviewers over isolated perfect scores. A chain with fifty reviews averaging 4.5 will outrank a chain with a single 5-star review every time. Full methodology →
The standard chicken nugget measures 5.26cm along its longest axis, a figure derived from empirical measurement across all tracked chains. If you are cm tall, you would be 34.5 nuggets tall, stacked end to end. Results are rounded to the nearest half-nugget.
Nugget Watch uses the metric system. Conversion from imperial units is left as an exercise for the user.
Engineering, editorial, data collection, quality assurance, community outreach, and strategic direction are handled by a single full-time contributor. We are supported by a distributed network of volunteer reviewers whose contributions we value immensely and cannot afford to pay.
Nugget Watch is entirely self-funded. We carry no advertising, accept no sponsorship, and have fielded zero venture capital inquiries. Our annual operating budget is comparable to the cost of a mid-range office chair. We do, however, accept donations of chicken nuggets.
We maintain that “serious” and “chicken nuggets” are not mutually exclusive. The data is real, the reviews are genuine, the methodology is sound, and the rankings are mathematically defensible. The subject matter may be nuggets, but the rigour is real.
